Important services like bank, insurance, postal mining, highway, construction, and government transport in many states can be affected today i.e. July 9.
This is because 10 central trade unions and their associate organizations have called a strike. The union claims that more than 25 crore employees across the country will participate in the strike.
Trade unions are opposed to privatization and 4 new labor codes. They are opposing the policies of the Center, which they consider anti-laborer, anti-farmer and corporate supporters.
According to the Periodic Labor Force Survey, there are 56 crore employees in public and private sectors in the country. It has 50 crore employees in the informal sector and 6 crore employees in the formal sector.

answer: Yes, trade unions have already done such nationwide strikes. Similar strikes took place in November 2020, March 2022 and February 2024, in which millions of employees and farmers took part.
Question 7: Will this strike be completely peaceful?
answer: Unions say that this strike will be peaceful and its purpose is to draw the attention of the government towards the problems of laborers and farmers. However, such a large scale strike can create a situation of tension or discomfort in some places.
