Users having ‘loose fastag’ will now be blacklisted. Highway users who deliberately apply fastag on the windscreen of the car are called ‘loose fastag’ or ‘tag-in-hand’. According to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), this causes disturbances in the e-toll collection system and the rest of the passengers.

Understand through 7 questions here, what will be the effect on you …

1. Question: What new rule has NHAI made about fastag?

answer: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has implemented this rule to prevent the misuse of Fastag. Now if a driver does not stick the fastag on the windshield of the car and keeps it in hand (called ‘loose fastag’ or ‘tag-in-hand’) on the toll plaza, then his fastag will be blacklisted.

2. Question: Why has such a rule brought?

answer: Some drivers intentionally do not deliberately stick the fastag on the windshield, causing a jam on the toll plaza, the wrong toll cut and the toll collection system is disturbed. This also causes trouble to other passengers. NHAI says that this step is necessary to make the toll collection more smooth.

3. Question: How long has this rule being implemented?

answer: It was announced by NHAI on 11 July 2025. Toll collection agencies have been immediately asked to report such fastags, on the basis of which NHAI will blacklist.

answer: NHAI has given a special email ID to toll collection agencies, through which they can immediately give information about such fastags. After this, NHAI will blacklist or hotelist that will stop working.
